Burn after reading

The Coen Brothers had a bad time. Intolerable Cruelty and Ladykillers were average movies - nothing I am used to from them. Last years No Country For Old Men was way better … a modern western. Really good and I can’t wait to see it again.

Last week I saw Burn after reading, the new comedy from the two geniuses. Geniuses, because of The Big Lebowski. Ginuses because of Fargo and O Btother Were Art Thou? And now: Geniuses because of Burn After Reading.

They got together some of their crew: George Clooney, Francis McDormand and J. K. Simmons already worked together with them. They found some new great actors for their project: Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton and John Malkovic.

Burn after reading, the secret service comedy has weired characters, a great story and very entertaining dialogues and situations. The Coens are back. 10 out of 10 points.

WALL•E

Yesterday I saw WALL•E, the latest Pixar movie. I was looking forward to it from the moment I heard of it, since the team of Finding Nemo (so far my favourite animated movie) was involved. And I have to say, this is Pixars dream team. WALL•E is at least on the same level of Finding Nemo.

All those hidden little jokes (e.g. Apple sound, when full charged) the side kicks (actually full frontal kicks) to society, well developed characters and a beautifully animated world. It is fascinating, how they got these emotions into “lifeless” creatures like robots. I think the first 30 minutes not a single word was spoken. It was like a silent movie. But never boring.

WALL•E gets full 10 out of 10 points from me … I saw great movies in cinema this year, can’t wait for “Burn after Reading”, the new Coen Brothers flick.
