Some weeks ago there was a young man in german TV-Show TV Total, who was able to do fantastic noises with his mouth (e.g. he was performing White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army). I was amazed about the art of beatboxing. Now I found a couple of youTube links in a newsgroup … check them out:
And finally check out this funny guy who is doing something like beatboxing: Hyperactive - Lasse Gjertsen

I almost missed the nominations for the Oscar. I was suprised The Departed is only nominated 5 times. I haven’t seen Blood Diamond yet, but I can’t imagine Leo di Caprio did a better job than in the Mafia-Drama. Anyway El Laberinto del Fauno got some nominations, now I can’t wait till it comes out in central Europe.
Traditionally one day before the nominees for the academy awards are announced, the nominees for the golden razberry, the Anti-Oscar are published. Basic Instinct 2 is the most nominated movie - I haven’t seen the movie, but I can imagine why.

Last year I’ve only been to one festival, the novarock near Vienna. The lineup was more than awesome. My personal Highlights were Tool, Massive Attack and Queens of the Stoneage. Since this was the second festival (and the lineup of the first one was already great) I didn’t expect they can top it. Now I was wondering what bands they will get this year. Among the first list there are only some I want to see, but none of them worth buying a ticket right away:
I hope they have some surprises for the next weeks. Looking to the festivals in Germany (Rock am Ring, Rock im Park) I see a reunion of The Smashing Pumpkins (one of my favourite bands in the 90s), Linking Park, Beatsteaks, Muse, Arctic Monkeys an Jan Delay. In Roskilde the Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform. And what about the Foo Fighters, they released an album recently … cant wait for more bands!
And I hope Wiesen will do festivals this year as well. They already announced the Urban Art Forms, but I kindoff hope for a Rock-festival like Two Days A Week or Forestglade.

Yesterday I finally saw Crank, a movie I’ve missed several times in cinema and a movie lots of people told I should go for. I have to admit, they were right. Full Speed from the first minute, cool shots and cuts, powerful soundtrack. 80 minutes of pure, good action. Seemes like action movies begin to be good again (Casino Royale and Miami Vice were surprisingly entertaining).

After summer came fall, then fall forgot the winter and was about to turn to spring … almost as in Monty Phytons Quest for the Holy Grail it seemed like we will have no winter this year. Now it was finally snowing. After 18° Celsius last week I couldn’t imagine that! I like the winter, even though I have to scrap off ice from my car …
For those who have no snow out there: Here is a nice little flash-movie that lets you create snowflakes.
