Eurovision Song Contest 2007

songcontest.gifThis weekend was (besides a Pokernight) the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. I don’t know why, but I watched it. Years ago we had fabulous Song Contest Partys … but this year, I have to say I am disappointed.

The votes were mostly political. Some might say it was the same years ago, but its kind of strange that “western” countries share the second half of the places, while “eastern” countries lead the ranking. I can’t imagine West-Europe can’t make good musik!

Well, there is United Kingdom, home of Modern Rock, who sent 90s Disco-Dance-Trash-Pop par excellence … if there wasn’t Ireland, UK would have been the last place without a doubt … while thinking about it, maybe the results are okay.

Anyway some songs were really good … like Georgias Sopho Visionary Dream. Finland wasn’t too bad either … Austrias Eric Papilaya was suprisingly not bad either but didn’t make it into the finaly.

Spiderman 3

spiderman3.jpgBoah, that sucked. I didn’t like the first two movies that much, but something always tears me into cinema to watch a Hollywood Blockbuster. I should have known it better. But somehow I thought, Spiderman 3 might be good. After the success of grim Batman Begins (which I liked very much) and the also pretty “dark” Trailer of Spiderman I thought this might be a cool movie. Well, as you can already imagine, it was not.

Why couldn’t they decide for ONE story and use it from the beginning to the end? It’s not like I couldn’t follow the plots (hehe), it’s just like they wanted to do too much, and so they did nothing appropriate. Some scenes were even so awkwar, I couldn’t look on the screen (like when Peter Parker is the “cool” guy - this wasn’t even real in the 80s). The action scenes were pretty much okay (but not more), some to fast, some illogical. Only for these and for being happy to see Topher Grace from funny That 70s show again, I give 2 out of 10 points.

I deeply hope the next Blockbusters (most of them sequels) do not disappoint me that much.

No pandora outside US

pandora.gifThis sucks. It sucks a lot. One of the best (if not THE BEST) internet radio pandora has been shut down for listeners outside the US. The reasons remain unclear … but they

… will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora ….

however, one of my most reliable source for new music has closed its doors for me …

Sunshine

sunshine.jpgIt sounds like a cheap expensive Hollywood Blockbuster: The sun stops shining and so a group of scientists have to take a huge atomic bomb to our next star to “restart” it. But since Danny Boyle, who made Trainspotting and 28 days later, is the director, Sunshine became interesting to me.

But still, I could not imagine to get satisfied … anyway I was. Beautiful pictures, brilliant actors and a mostly thrilling and entertaining story. Of course, a scientist would tear the some scenes into pieces, but if you let yourself fall into a universe where people can travel to the sun, you will get entertained. And so I can give 8 out of 10 points.
